1/4″ bit holder to ISO 1173 to fit Systainer³ M and L – tiles for 25 and 50 mm bits
Tool case inserts
from€2.90

3D print files for tool case inserts made to fit Systainer³ and Sortainer³: holders for bits, hex keys, sockets and drill bits, compartment inserts and Gridfinity-compatible bins. Every insert is built from tiles of 200 mm at most, which fit common print beds. Print the free fit sample set first.
Inserts for tool cases, made to fit Systainer³ (M, L, XXL) and the drawers of Sortainer³ and Combi. The holders follow tool standards, not individual tool models: bit holders for 1/4″ bits (ISO 1173, 25 and 50 mm long), hex key holders from 1.5 to 10 mm (ISO 2936), socket holders for 1/4″, 3/8″ and 1/2″ (ISO 2725-1) and a drill bit cassette for Ø 1 to 13 mm (DIN 338).
In addition there are compartments: a compartment insert on a 50 mm grid with plug-in dividers (height 30, 45 or 60 mm), abrasive holders for Ø 125, Ø 150, 80 × 133 mm and delta shapes, a drawer insert for Sortainer³ and Combi, Gridfinity-compatible bins from 1 × 1 to 3 × 2 units, holders for screwdrivers (shaft 3 to 8 mm) and pliers, a quiver set for pens, files and brushes, a bit plate for the lid compartment, a router bit holder and an insert for cartridges and spray cans (M 337 and M 437 only). An intermediate tray adds a second level; it is a shelf (guide value at most 1 kg, not a tested load rating).
There are no inserts for individual machines, batteries or specific branded tools: we would need manufacturer-specific dimensions for that. The range is released step by step; the list on this page shows which files are already available.

A Systainer³ M measures 389.5 × 275.0 mm inside (M 112 and M 137; from M 187 it is 389.7 × 275.2 mm). That does not fit on any 220 mm print bed. That is why every insert is made of tiles: 2 × 2 for M, 3 × 2 for L, 4 × 2 or 5 × 2 for XXL. Each tile is 200 mm at most and stands free in the case.
The walls of the case hold the tiles together. A flat plug-in strip that does not clamp joins them to one another. You can mix families, for example put a bit tile next to a hex key tile. Many inserts come as a tile set for M or L or as a single tile.
The holders are flat trays 30 to 45 mm high. They fit every case height from M 112 (inside height 71 mm), with room above for the lid. Taller variants exist only where the tool needs them, for example for 1/2″ sockets or cartridges; they state the case size from which they fit.
The inside dimensions of the cases are documented. They come from the manufacturer's price list (TANOS, 2026, "Dimensions" table) and are given to 0.1 to 0.2 mm: M 112 and M 137 inside 389.5 × 275.0 mm, from M 187 389.7 × 275.2 mm, L inside 501.5 to 501.7 × 275.2 mm. The Sortainer³ drawers measure 343 × 271 mm inside (low drawer). For tools the standards apply: ISO 1173 for the 1/4″ hexagon of bits (6.35 mm), ISO 2936 for hex keys, ISO 2725-1 for sockets and DIN 338 for twist drills. Clearance is added to the standard dimension: 0.3 mm for bits and hex keys, 0.4 mm for drill bits. Rounded values, or values we did not read in the standard itself, are marked as estimates.
Not published are the radius of the vertical corners, the radius between floor and wall, the position and height of the floor cross and the wall draft. So far we have not measured a case ourselves. That is why we leave generous clearance: R 15 in the corner of the outer tiles (the largest radius in the fit sample set), a 4 mm chamfer on the bottom edge, a hollow underside with a rim in which a floor cross up to 5 mm high has room, and 1.0 mm clearance per side to the case. Between the tiles it is 0.3 mm.
That is why the fit sample set is free, and why it is best printed first: corner blocks with radii from R 0 to R 15, floor edges, a floor profile strip, a rim height ladder and a corner sample as a tile corner with R 15 and the clearance steps 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mm. With it you read off on your own case what the manufacturer does not state. A precisely fitting Gridfinity baseplate and an edge compensation we build only once measured values are available.

We recommend PETG. A tool case quickly ends up in a car, a shed or in the sun, and PLA deforms in the heat. PLA works for a case that stays indoors; do not leave it in a hot car or in the sun with PLA inserts. The intended print profile is 3 walls and 15 % infill.
Each tile is 200 mm at most and therefore fits a print bed from 200 mm. Large tiles shrink a little as they cool, about 0.4 mm at roughly 195 mm length (estimate); that is another reason the clearance is generous. Try the first tile in the case before you print the whole set.
The inserts are organising aids, nothing load-bearing. They are not intended for contact with food.

That is what the parts are designed for. The M 137 measures 389.5 × 275.0 mm inside with a 96 mm inside height (manufacturer's price list 2026). The flat holders, 30 to 45 mm high, fit every case height from M 112 (71 mm inside). Taller variants, for example for 1/2″ sockets or cartridges, state the case size from which they fit. Our parts have not yet been tested in the case; so print the free fit sample set first.
No. We have not checked any dimensions for the T-Loc. The parts are designed only for Systainer³ and Sortainer³.
Yes, a drawer insert is designed for Sortainer/2, Sortainer/3 and the drawers of the Combi M, with a variant for each drawer height. Per the manufacturer's price list the low drawers measure 343 × 271 × 66 mm inside and the tall drawer of the Sortainer/2 343 × 261 × 158 mm. The list on this page shows which files are already available.
The bins are Gridfinity-compatible (42 mm grid, 7 mm height step) and have their own geometry, built only from the published dimensions, without third-party files. According to gridfinity.xyz, Gridfinity is under the MIT licence; we have no affiliation with its creator. We build the precisely fitting baseplate for the case only once measured values from the fit samples are available, because the corner radii and floor profile of the case are not published.
Because we have not measured a case ourselves. The corner radius and floor profile are not published, the inside dimensions are given without stating the height they apply at, and FDM parts shrink and vary a little. We therefore leave 1.0 mm per side to the case; this is an estimate, not a measured value, and more than the 0.5 mm of a common Gridfinity calculation. The fit sample set (corner blocks, floor edges, floor profile, rim height ladder, corner sample) is free and shows you on your case whether the clearance is enough.
Each tile is 200 mm at most and stands free, so it fits a print bed from 200 mm. A Systainer³ M consists of 2 × 2 tiles, an L of 3 × 2, an XXL of 4 × 2 or 5 × 2. On smaller beds the tiles are too big.
Our parts have not yet been tested in the case. The inside dimensions are taken from the manufacturer's price list (TANOS, 2026), the tool dimensions come from standards (ISO 1173, ISO 2936, ISO 2725-1, DIN 338); rounded values are marked as estimates. The corner radius and floor profile are not published, so we leave generous clearance. How accurately the parts come out for you depends on your printer; the free fit sample set settles that beforehand. The inserts are not an accessory of TANOS or Festool and have no connection to them; we name products only to describe the fit.
The licence is private: you print the parts for your own use. Selling prints commercially is only possible by agreement.
