Description

Every tap has its groove, small on the left to large on the right. The taps lie flat and sink to their centre line; lift them out at the finger notch at the end. The hand tap set (taper, plug and bottoming tap) lies on one tile together with the matching tap wrench. Lying flat, everything fits every case height.

  • Tile H1: hand taps to DIN 352, M3, M4, M5 and M6, 3 of each, plus a slot for a size 0 tap wrench (M1–M8) up to 130 mm long.
  • Tile H2: hand taps M8, M10 and M12, 3 of each, plus a slot for a size 1 or 1½ tap wrench up to 180 mm long (M tile only; the L tile is too short for it).
  • Tile MA: machine taps M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, M10, M12, M14 and M16, one each. DIN 371 and DIN 376 have the same length up to M10; the groove takes the thicker DIN 371 shank, so both kinds fit.
  • Groove per size: the larger of thread Ø and shank Ø plus 0.6 mm clearance (estimate), length = overall length per standard + 2 mm.
  • Flat: tile 30 mm high, fits every height from M 112.
  • Careful: Taps have sharp cutting edges: hold them by the shank when putting them in and taking them out.
  • Print one at a time, as needed: every tile is a holder of its own; the set fills a case.

Variants and installation: Whole set (all tiles and connector bars, print profile as below): Tile set M (H1, H2, 2 × MA) 22 h 42 min, 440 g; Tile set L (H1, H2 without wrench, MA; back row free) 15 h 13 min, 293 g. Systainer³ M (from above, one long side at the front): front: left H1 (hand M3–M6 + wrench size 0), right H2 (hand M8–M12 + wrench size 1); back: left MA (machine M3–M16), right MA (machine M3–M16). The back row is the same file turned by 180°; the two R 15 corners of every tile face the case wall. Systainer³ L (from above, one long side at the front): front: left H1 (hand M3–M6 + wrench size 0), middle H2 (hand M8–M12), right MA (machine M3–M16); back: left free (another tile), middle free (another tile), right free (another tile). The back row is the same file turned by 180°; the two R 15 corners of every tile face the case wall. Single tiles M: H1, H2 or MA on their own; the other places stay free for other tiles.

Dimensions: Inside dimensions taken from the TANOS price list 2026; our part has not been tested in the case yet. Systainer³ M: 2 × 2 tiles of 193.6 × 136.3 mm (inside 389.5 × 275 mm), 2 connector bars; Systainer³ L: 3 × 2 tiles of 166.3 × 136.4 mm (inside 501.5 × 275.2 mm), 3 connector bars. Tool dimensions according to DIN 352, DIN 371, DIN 376 and DIN 1814 (tap wrenches). Dimensions to DIN 352, 371 and 376 taken from manufacturer catalogues (standard text not read); two catalogues agree for M4–M12. For the hand taps M3, M4, M5 the sources disagree; we use the larger value for length and square (estimate). Tap wrench lengths depend on the maker (size 0 125–130 mm, size 1 180 mm); the slot is 32 mm wide and takes frames up to about 30 mm (estimate). The corner radius, floor profile (floor cross, radius between floor and wall) and wall draft of the cases are not published. That is why we relieve generously: R 15 in the case corner, a 4 mm chamfer at the bottom edge, a hollow underside with a rim (a floor cross up to 5 mm high stays clear) and 1.0 mm clearance per side to the case, 0.3 mm between tiles. Print the free fit sample set first: it shows on your own case whether corner, floor edge and clearance work.

Material: PETG recommended, because a tool case quickly ends up in a car or in the sun. PLA works too, but it deforms in a hot car or in the sun.

Brands: Made to fit Systainer³/Sortainer³, not an accessory by TANOS or Festool, no affiliation with them. No logos and no lettering on the parts.

If a tap is too tight or longer than its groove, scale the tile up by 1–2 % in the slicer.

FAQ

Which material should I use for this tool case insert?

Recommended: PETG (alternatively PLA). PETG recommended, because a tool case quickly ends up in a car or in the sun. PLA works too, but it deforms in a hot car or in the sun.

Do I receive a printed part?

No. You get the print files and print the part yourself or use a print service. You get the download link right after payment.

Do taps to other standards fit?

Shorter taps of the same diameter lie the same way. Taps longer than the standard length plus 2 mm do not fit the groove.

Have you printed the part and tested it in a case?

Not yet. Inside dimensions taken from the TANOS price list 2026; our part has not been tested in the case yet; the tool dimensions come from the standards named. That is why you should print the free fit sample set and a single tile first.

What are the connector bars for?

A flat bar (30 × 5 × 2 mm) sits in two pockets at the joint between the front and the back tile and keeps them in line without clamping. Lengthwise the case walls hold the tiles. You can also leave the bars out.

Is this an accessory by TANOS or Festool?

No. The parts are made to fit Systainer³/Sortainer³, not an accessory by TANOS or Festool, no affiliation with them. We name products only to describe the fit.

Which material?
