Track spacing gauge – open line and station, Z, N, TT, H0

Description

Two tracks side by side need enough spacing so vehicles do not touch, and no more than necessary so it looks real. Lay two gauges across both tracks: the tongues drop between the rails and the tracks sit at the standard spacing.

• Open line and station: two gauges per scale (H0 46 and 52 mm).
• Resting on the rails: independent of the track bed, tongues G − 0.6 mm wide.
• For straight track only; curves need more spacing depending on the radius.

In the set per scale:

• Track spacing open line / station: Z 19 / 21 mm; N 25 / 28 mm; TT 34 / 38 mm; H0 46 / 52 mm
• Per scale one gauge for the open line and one for stations; the collection plate holds two of each.

Scales: One variant per scale: Z (1:220), N (1:160), TT (1:120) and H0 (1:87). Each variant contains the single parts and a collection plate with all parts of the scale (3 mm apart).

Dimensions: Dimensions taken from NEM 112 (2024 edition). How accurate it turns out depends on your printer, and our part has not been tested on a layout yet. Print the free check gauge first to see in advance whether clearance and distances suit your setup.

Material: PLA is enough because the layout stays indoors; PETG works too. 0.4 mm nozzle, ideally 0.12 mm layers, no supports.

Material and temperature

PLA is enough for gauges and structural parts (0.4 mm nozzle). For small details use resin or a 0.2 mm nozzle. With resin: wear gloves, follow the resin manufacturer's instructions and cure the parts fully.
