Description

The modules form the front edge of a platform; behind them you continue the surface with board or foam. A dovetail joint links the modules into an edge of any length, and the edge gauge sets it at the right distance from the track.

  • Four platform heights: 38 cm (minimum), 55 cm (regional networks), 76 cm (standard), 96 cm (S-Bahn), each above rail top.
  • Edge gauge: rests on the rails, a tongue between them keeps it centred; its end is the edge line. Push the module against it and you are done.
  • Edge NEM-compliant (default): exactly at the limit up to which platforms may approach the track under NEM. True to prototype (second variant): about 1.65 m from the track centre, in H0 about 2 mm closer to the track. Test with the check gauge first: wide vehicles may scrape there.
  • Joints every 1 m and a groove as a painting guide for the safety line; no lettering, no station names.

In the set per scale:

  • Z: heights 1.73 / 2.5 / 3.45 / 4.36 mm, module 39.5 mm long, edge 9 mm (NEM) or 7.5 mm (true to prototype) from the track axis
  • N: heights 2.38 / 3.44 / 4.75 / 6 mm, module 54.4 mm long, edge 12.5 mm (NEM) or 10.31 mm (true to prototype) from the track axis
  • TT: heights 3.17 / 4.58 / 6.33 / 8 mm, module 72.5 mm long, edge 16 mm (NEM) or 13.75 mm (true to prototype) from the track axis
  • H0: heights 4.37 / 6.32 / 8.74 / 11 mm, module 100 mm long, edge 21 mm (NEM) or 18.97 mm (true to prototype) from the track axis
  • Per variant: four modules (38, 55, 76 and 96 cm) and an edge gauge.

Scales: One variant per scale: Z (1:220), N (1:160), TT (1:120) and H0 (1:87). Each variant contains the single parts and a collection plate with all parts of the scale (3 mm apart).

Dimensions: Dimensions taken from NEM 102 (2019 edition). Prototype dimensions from EBO § 13 (German railway construction and operating regulations), DB Station&Service slides of 22 Sep 2017 (55 cm) and Wikipedia "Bahnsteig" (edge distance approx. 1.65 m), divided by the scale. The heights apply above rail top; in the NEM variant, 96 cm in H0 is limited to 11.0 mm (HL1), the prototype would be 11.03 mm. There is no NEM sheet for platforms; the limits come from the clearance. Module depth (3 m) and joints are a free choice. How accurate it turns out depends on your printer, and our part has not been tested on a layout yet. Print the free check gauge first to see in advance whether clearance and distances suit your setup. The foot of the part sits at rail-top level (height offset 0), so it is not tailored to any particular track system. If the rail top of your track sits higher than the baseboard, shim the part by that height.

Material: PLA is enough because the layout stays indoors; PETG works too. 0.4 mm nozzle, ideally 0.12 mm layers, no supports.

Material and temperature

Which material should I use for this model railway accessory?

Which variant should I take?

The NEM variant suits all vehicles that meet the standard. The prototype edge looks more realistic but lies inside the clearance; only use it if the check gauge shows that your vehicles pass freely.

How long does the platform edge get?

One module is 8.7 m long (100 mm in H0). Print as many as you need; each one plugs into the next.

Does it suit my track?
