Description

A movement tray for every formation of 50 × 50 mm bases: the bases sit edge to edge in one continuous recess, just like the formation on the table, and you move the whole unit at once. The set contains every depth and width, each as its own file.

  • One continuous recess: the bases sit edge to edge as in the formation; the clearance is there only once at the rim and does not add up per base (ten single pockets of 0.4 mm each would be 4 mm wider). Recess 1.8 mm deep, floor 1.2 mm, rim 2.0 mm with a 0.6 mm lead-in.
  • Grid lines: shallow V-grooves (0.3 mm) in the recess floor at every cell border for counting.
  • Over 200 mm in two parts: split at a cell border with dovetails in the floor (0.15 mm clearance per side). Two parts, plugged together, a drop of glue if needed.
  • No magnets: The recess guides the bases sideways, they sit loose in it.

In the set: Every depth with every width, each size as its own file: 1–3 rows deep, 3–6 bases wide. Example: 3 × 2 bases → recess 150.4 × 100.4 mm, outside 154.4 × 104.4 mm. The stated print time, filament amount, dimensions and weight refer to the example tray for 3 × 2 bases of 50 × 50 mm only, not to the whole set. Two parts (over 200 mm outside): 4–6 wide, files _a and _b each.

Dimensions: Basis: nominal sizes of common plastic bases (retailer tables), foot sizes from a public measuring template. Every recess and pocket is nominal size + 0.4 mm clearance (0.2 mm per side), with a 0.6 mm lead-in chamfer. Real bases differ from the nominal size by up to about 1 mm depending on the maker (mostly smaller, ovals partly wider). If your bases only fit a larger clearance stage of the test set, scale the file in X and Y only in the slicer: factor = (N × nominal size + wanted clearance) ÷ (N × nominal size + 0.4), N = number of bases in that direction. The 0.4 mm clearance is our assumption in the middle of the 0.3 to 1.0 mm range that trays on the market use (estimate). Our part has not been printed or tested yet. Print the free fit test set first: it shows with your own bases and printer which clearance fits.

Material: PLA, 0.4 mm nozzle, ideally 0.12 mm layers, no supports; PETG works too. PLA deforms in a hot car, so do not leave the parts there.

Made by base size, not for a particular game; no miniatures included.

Not a toy. Accessory for tabletop hobbyists aged 14 and up; contains small parts that can be swallowed, not for children under 3 years. No miniatures included. No connection to game or base manufacturers. Nothing load-bearing.

Material and temperature

Print trays, converters, smooth bases and flight stands in PLA (0.4 mm nozzle); PETG works too. The textured bases are meant for resin; FDM with a 0.2 mm nozzle is the alternative. With resin: wear gloves, follow the resin manufacturer's instructions and cure the parts fully. Also make sure the room is well ventilated.

Print orientation: Flat, as the files are laid out, no supports.

FAQ

Which material should I use for this tabletop accessory?

Recommended: PLA (alternatively PETG).

Do I receive a printed part?

No. You get the print files and print the part yourself or use a print service. You get the download link right after payment.

Have you printed and tested the part?

Not yet. Our part has not been printed or tested yet. That is why you should print the free fit test set first and then a single part.

Do the bases stay in without magnets?

The recess guides the bases sideways, so they move along when you slide the part across the table. They sit loose: if you lift the part at an angle they can fall out. Magnets are not intended.

My bases sit too tight or too loose. What now?

Real bases differ from the nominal size by up to about 1 mm depending on the maker (mostly smaller, ovals partly wider). If your bases only fit a larger clearance stage of the test set, scale the file in X and Y only in the slicer: factor = (nominal size + wanted clearance) ÷ (nominal size + 0.4).

Is this for a particular game?

No. We build by base size and name no games or makers. Which base size and which formation you need is in your rules.
