52 mm gauge pod for round air vents – flush fit, Ø 60–80 mm

Description

Many cars have round air vents whose head can be removed. The pod clamps into the housing in its place and holds a 52 mm gauge flush in the face, like a factory fit.

• Crush ribs on the outside hold the pod in the vent housing.
• Crush ribs on the inside hold the gauge. No bracket or screw needed.
• A 3 mm flange covers the housing rim.
• The cable runs back through the air duct.
• Prints flange-down on the bed, no supports.

Pick the variant by the inner diameter of the vent housing (60, 65, 70, 75 or 80 mm): remove the vent head and measure with calipers.

Crush ribs absorb ±0.5 mm. If no variant fits, adjust the diameter in the STEP file.

Material and temperature

Shaded location: PETG is sufficient, ASA is the more robust choice. PLA is unsuitable in a car – it starts to soften at about 55–60 °C.

Print orientation: Flange (visible side) down on the bed, sleeve pointing up.

Safety notice

Only use in vents outside airbag covers. This vent no longer blows air; do not use vents needed to keep the windscreen clear. Install at your own risk. Never mount in an airbag deployment zone, never cover controls, never restrict the view. Follow the material and temperature advice. Add-ons may affect the type approval of the vehicle (§ 19 StVZO in Germany); keep edges in the head and knee area rounded (UN Regulation No. 21).

Printing

1. Print the tolerance test ring first and test-fit the gauge.
2. Print in PETG or ASA, 0.2 mm layers, 4 walls, 20 % infill, no supports. No PLA.

Installation

1. Carefully remove the vent head (usually with a plastic trim tool).
2. Feed the cable through the pod and back through the air duct.
3. Press the gauge in from the front, then push the pod straight into the vent housing.
