52 mm gauge pod with vent clip – universal for slatted air vents

Description

The pod clips onto a slat of the air vent with two jaws and holds a 52 mm gauge right in view. Nothing on the car is glued or drilled.

• A barb at the tip catches behind the slat.
• Variants for 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5 mm slat thickness.
• An M3 set screw on top secures the gauge.
• For vertical slats, simply clip the pod on turned by 90°.
• Prints front-down on the bed, no supports.

Meant for light gauges (typically 80–150 g). Mount heavy mechanical gauges in a cupholder or dashboard pod instead.

If the clip is too tight, pick the next thinner variant; too loose: the next thicker one.

Material and temperature

Shaded location: PETG is sufficient, ASA is the more robust choice. PLA is unsuitable in a car – it starts to soften at about 55–60 °C.

Safety notice

Use only on vents outside airbag covers. The pod must not cover controls or block the view. Check it is secure before every drive; light gauges only. Install at your own risk. Never mount in an airbag deployment zone, never cover controls, never restrict the view. Follow the material and temperature advice. Add-ons may affect the type approval of the vehicle (§ 19 StVZO in Germany); keep edges in the head and knee area rounded (UN Regulation No. 21).

You will also need

• 1 × M3 set screw or self-tapping M3 screw, 8–10 mm

Printing

1. Print the tolerance test ring first and test-fit the gauge.
2. Print in PETG (springier than ASA), 0.2 mm layers, 4 walls, 20 % infill, no supports. No PLA.

Installation

1. Measure the slat thickness with calipers and print the matching variant.
2. Insert the gauge, tighten the set screw hand-tight.
3. Push the jaws straight onto the slat until the barb clicks behind it. Route the cable through the vent.
