Toyota Tundra / Sequoia (1st gen): flush 52 mm gauge insert for the ashtray – no drilling

Description

For the 1st-gen Toyota Tundra (2000–2006) and Sequoia (2001–2007): the insert replaces the ashtray below the radio and holds one 52 mm gauge flush in the dash – e.g. transmission temperature for towing or exhaust gas temperature.

• A shell with crush ribs slides into the ashtray slot and clamps there. Nothing is drilled, the ashtray can go back at any time.
• The gauge sits flush in the front, held by crush ribs without screws; nothing sticks into the cabin.
• The cable leaves the tube at the back into the slot and behind the dash.
• Variants for 45, 50 and 55 mm gauge depth.
• Prints face-down on the bed: smooth visible side, no supports.

Fit: slot size taken from a freely published Sequoia insert, our part is not yet tested in a car.

File the crush ribs if needed; too loose: felt tape on the shell. Bore +0.4 mm, check with the test ring.

Material and temperature

Shaded location: PETG is sufficient, ASA is the more robust choice. PLA is unsuitable in a car – it starts to soften at about 55–60 °C.

Print orientation: Face (visible side) down on the bed, shell and tube pointing up.

Safety notice

The insert sits flush in the centre console below the radio, clear of the airbag zones. Check it is secure before driving. Install at your own risk. Never mount in an airbag deployment zone, never cover controls, never restrict the view. Follow the material and temperature advice. Add-ons may affect the type approval of the vehicle (§ 19 StVZO in Germany); keep edges in the head and knee area rounded (UN Regulation No. 21).

Printing

1. Print the tolerance test ring first and test-fit the gauge.
2. Print in PETG, ASA or ABS, 0.2 mm layers, 4 walls, 20 % infill, no supports. No PLA.

Installation

1. Pull out the ashtray.
2. Feed the cable from the front through the tube into the slot, press the gauge in.
3. Slide the insert straight into the slot until the front is flush.
