Toyota FJ Cruiser (2007–2014): 52 mm gauge pod for the cup holder – no drilling

Description

For the Toyota FJ Cruiser (2007–2014): the pod drops into the centre console cup holder behind the selector and holds one 52 mm gauge – popular off-road: transmission temperature or voltmeter.

• The insert follows the tapered OEM cup holder, clamps with crush ribs at the bottom and rests with a collar at the top – no rattles, no drilling.
• Round: turn it toward the driver in the holder.
• Tilt 45 or 60°, a pedestal carries the cup, an M3 set screw secures the gauge.
• The cable leaves at the back above the holder rim.
• Prints without supports.

Crush ribs absorb ±0.5 mm; too loose: felt tape at the bottom of the insert. Bore +0.4 mm, check with the test ring.

Material and temperature

Location out of direct sun: PETG works, ASA as well. Still no PLA – a parked car gets very hot inside.

Print orientation: Insert down on the bed, cup pointing up.

Safety notice

The cup holder sits behind the selector. The pod must not obstruct the selector or transfer case lever – check in every position. Install at your own risk. Never mount in an airbag deployment zone, never cover controls, never restrict the view. Follow the material and temperature advice. Add-ons may affect the type approval of the vehicle (§ 19 StVZO in Germany); keep edges in the head and knee area rounded (UN Regulation No. 21).

You will also need

• 1 × M3 set screw or self-tapping M3 screw, 8–10 mm

Printing

1. Print the tolerance test ring first and test-fit the gauge. If +0.4 mm does not fit, adjust the bore in the STEP file.
2. Print in PETG or ASA, 0.2 mm layers, 4 walls, 20 % infill, no supports. No PLA.

Installation

1. Remove the OEM cup holder insert.
2. Slide the gauge in from the front, tighten the set screw hand-tight, route the cable out the back.
3. Press the pod into the cup holder until the collar sits down, then turn it toward the driver.
