Mercedes Sprinter VS30 (W907/W910): 52 mm gauge in the dash-top cup holder – flush, no drilling

Description

For the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 (W907/W910, 2018 on): the insert drops into the round dash-top cup holder on the driver side and holds one 52 mm gauge, e.g. a voltmeter for the camper house battery or an oil temperature gauge.

• Tapered like the hole (Ø 70 at the top, Ø 65 mm at the bottom) with crush ribs. Nothing is drilled.
• The gauge stands on a ring 15 mm above the bottom of the hole, leaving room for the connector.
• Three variants by gauge depth: up to 35 mm flush, up to 45 mm 10 mm and up to 55 mm 20 mm above the dash.
• The cable leaves the bore at the bottom and runs up in a groove on the outside of the insert.
• Prints without supports.

Fit: hole dimensions taken from a freely published cup holder insert, our part is not yet tested in a car. The reference comes from a US Sprinter.

File the crush ribs if needed; too loose: felt tape around the insert. Check the +0.4 mm bore with the test ring.

Material and temperature

Location out of direct sun: PETG works, ASA as well. Still no PLA – a parked car gets very hot inside.

Safety notice

Use on the driver side only, not above the passenger airbag. The gauge stands at most 2 cm above the dash and does not block the view; its lighting can reflect in the windscreen at night, dim it then. Use ASA: the dash top gets hot in the sun. Install at your own risk. Never mount in an airbag deployment zone, never cover controls, never restrict the view. Follow the material and temperature advice. Add-ons may affect the type approval of the vehicle (§ 19 StVZO in Germany); keep edges in the head and knee area rounded (UN Regulation No. 21).

Hole dimensions taken from Printables 913752 (CC BY-SA, dimensions only), our part not yet tested in a car. Photos and dimensions of the references come from US vans (2023); whether EU vans have the same cup holder hole is not sourced. Use only in the driver-side cup holder, not on the passenger side above the airbag.

Printing

1. Print the tolerance test ring first and test-fit the gauge.
2. Print in ASA or ABS, 0.2 mm layers, 4 walls, 20 % infill, no supports. No PLA.

Installation

1. Feed the cable down through the bore, out through the channel at the bottom and up the outside groove.
2. Plug in the gauge and press it in from the top until it rests on the ring.
3. Press the insert into the driver-side cup holder.
