Mazda 3 BL (2009–2013) / Mazdaspeed3: 52 mm gauge pod for the coin tray – no drilling

Description

For the Mazda 3 BL (2009–2013), made for the MPS / Mazdaspeed3: the pod plugs into the coin tray below the climate controls and holds one 52 mm gauge – usually boost on the MPS.

• A U-shaped foot with crush ribs clamps in the well, the base plate rests on top. Nothing is drilled.
• Tilt 45, 60 or 75° toward the driver.
• The cable runs through the hollow stand and the base plate down into the well.
• The base plate rests on the tray rim; the coin tray itself is removed.
• Prints without supports.

File the crush ribs if needed; too loose: felt tape on the foot. Check the +0.4 mm bore with the test ring.

Material and temperature

Shaded location: PETG is sufficient, ASA is the more robust choice. PLA is unsuitable in a car – it starts to soften at about 55–60 °C.

Print orientation: Front face on the bed, cup pointing up; the foot lies on the bed as well.

Safety notice

The pod sits in the centre console clear of the airbag zones. It must not obstruct the gear lever, handbrake or cup holder – check in every gear. Install at your own risk. Never mount in an airbag deployment zone, never cover controls, never restrict the view. Follow the material and temperature advice. Add-ons may affect the type approval of the vehicle (§ 19 StVZO in Germany); keep edges in the head and knee area rounded (UN Regulation No. 21).

You will also need

• 1 × M3 set screw or self-tapping M3 screw, 8–10 mm

Printing

1. Print the tolerance test ring first and test-fit the gauge.
2. Print in ASA, ABS or PETG, 0.2 mm layers, 4 walls, 20 % infill, no supports. No PLA.

Installation

1. Remove the coin tray.
2. Feed the cable from the top through the stand and base plate into the well, insert the gauge, tighten the set screw hand-tight.
3. Press the pod into the well with the gauge facing the driver.
