Fiat 500 / Abarth 500 / 595 (2007–2015): 52 mm gauge pod for the navi dock – no drilling

Description

For the Fiat 500 (312) and Abarth 500/595 with the factory navi dock (TomTom / Blue&Me Nav, about 2007–2015): the pod plugs into the dock on top of the dashboard and holds one 52 mm gauge – usually boost on the Abarth.\n\n- A stem with crush ribs clamps in the dock like the original plug. Nothing is drilled.\n- Tilted 75°, turned 20° toward the driver – variants for left- and right-hand drive.\n- An M3 set screw secures the gauge.\n- Prints without supports.\n\nOnly for cars with the dock. The dock is powered – do not connect the pod to it; route the cable back over the dashboard.

File the crush ribs if needed; too loose: thin felt tape on the stem. Bore +0.4 mm, check with the test ring.

Material and temperature

Location in direct sun: print in ASA or ABS only. A dashboard reaches about 69 °C on average after one hour in the sun, with peaks up to 89 °C. ASA only softens at around 108 °C and is UV resistant. PETG and PLA will warp here.

Print orientation: Front face on the bed, cup pointing up; the stem lies flat on the bed.

Safety notice

The dashboard top gets hot: ASA or ABS only. The pod must not reach toward the passenger airbag flap or block the view. The dock is powered – insert nothing but the stem. Install at your own risk. Never mount in an airbag deployment zone, never cover controls, never restrict the view. Follow the material and temperature advice. Add-ons may affect the type approval of the vehicle (§ 19 StVZO in Germany); keep edges in the head and knee area rounded (UN Regulation No. 21).

Only with the factory TomTom/Blue&Me dock. Stem size taken from a dock plug (Printables 138221, CC BY), cross-checked with 172571, 456879, 1720057; our part not yet tested in a car. RHD dock the same? Not sourced. 7 airbags incl. driver knee airbag; the dock sits top centre, clear of them.

Printing

1. Print the tolerance test ring first and test-fit the gauge.
2. Print in ASA or ABS, 0.2 mm layers, 4 walls, 20 % infill, no supports. No PLA, no PETG.

Installation

1. Remove the sat nav or the dock cover.
2. Insert the gauge, tighten the set screw hand-tight, route the cable back over the dashboard.
3. Push the pod straight into the dock.
