Mitsubishi Pajero / Montero / Shogun 2 (V20, 1991–1999): 52 mm gauge pod for the ashtray – no drilling

Description

For the Mitsubishi Pajero / Montero / Shogun 2nd generation (V20, 1991–1999): the pod plugs into the ashtray of the floor console behind the gear lever and holds one 52 mm gauge, e.g. boost or EGT on the 2.8 TD.

• A U-shaped foot with crush ribs clamps in the well, the base plate rests on top. Nothing is drilled.
• Tilt 30, 45 or 60° toward the driver.
• The cable runs through the hollow stand and the base plate down into the well.
• The foot is square and fits either way round.
• Prints without supports.

File the crush ribs if needed; too loose: felt tape on the foot. Check the +0.4 mm bore with the test ring.

Material and temperature

Shaded location: PETG is sufficient, ASA is the more robust choice. PLA is unsuitable in a car – it starts to soften at about 55–60 °C.

Print orientation: Front face on the bed, cup pointing up; the foot lies on the bed as well.

Safety notice

The pod sits in the centre console clear of the airbag zones. It must not obstruct the gear lever, handbrake or cup holder – check in every gear. Install at your own risk. Never mount in an airbag deployment zone, never cover controls, never restrict the view. Follow the material and temperature advice. Add-ons may affect the type approval of the vehicle (§ 19 StVZO in Germany); keep edges in the head and knee area rounded (UN Regulation No. 21).

Well size from a cup holder for the ashtray position (Printables 1614798). Floor console between the seats, no airbag there; front airbags depending on year and market.

• 1 × M3 set screw or self-tapping M3 screw, 8–10 mm

Printing

1. Print the tolerance test ring first and test-fit the gauge.
2. Print in ASA, ABS or PETG, 0.2 mm layers, 4 walls, 20 % infill, no supports. No PLA.

Installation

1. Remove the ashtray insert.
2. Feed the cable from the top through the stand and base plate into the well, insert the gauge, tighten the set screw hand-tight.
3. Press the pod into the well with the gauge facing the driver.
