Ford Transit Mk7 (2006–2014): 52 mm gauge pod for the dashboard cup holder – no drilling

Description

For the Ford Transit Mk7 (V347/V348, 2006–2014), van, bus and chassis cab: the pod drops into the outer dashboard cup holder on the driver side (next to the side vent) and holds one 52 mm gauge – usually boost or EGT on the 2.2/2.4 TDCi.\n\n- The insert follows the stepped OEM holder (Ø 70 below, Ø 84 mm above), sits on the step and clamps with crush ribs – no rattles, no drilling.\n- Round: turn it toward the driver in the holder. One file for left- and right-hand drive.\n- Tilt 45 or 60°, a pedestal carries the cup, an M3 set screw secures the gauge.\n- The cable leaves at the back above the holder rim.\n- Prints without supports.

Crush ribs absorb ±0.5 mm; too loose: felt tape on the collar. Bore +0.4 mm, check with the test ring.

Material and temperature

Location out of direct sun: PETG works, ASA as well. Still no PLA – a parked car gets very hot inside.

Print orientation: Insert down on the bed, cup pointing up.

Safety notice

Use in the outer driver-side cup holder only, not on the passenger side (optional passenger airbag). The mirror adjuster, side vent and view through the side window must stay clear. Install at your own risk. Never mount in an airbag deployment zone, never cover controls, never restrict the view. Follow the material and temperature advice. Add-ons may affect the type approval of the vehicle (§ 19 StVZO in Germany); keep edges in the head and knee area rounded (UN Regulation No. 21).

Holder shape taken from three Mk7 inserts (Printables 1861114, 494305, 234390; fitting photos LHD and RHD), our part not yet tested in a car. Use the outer driver-side holder only. Passenger airbag optional (top centre), no knee airbag listed.

You will also need

• 1 × M3 set screw or self-tapping M3 screw, 8–10 mm

Printing

1. Print the tolerance test ring first and test-fit the gauge. If +0.4 mm does not fit, adjust the bore in the STEP file.
2. Print in PETG or ASA, 0.2 mm layers, 4 walls, 20 % infill, no supports. No PLA.

Installation

1. Slide the gauge in from the front, tighten the set screw hand-tight, route the cable out the back.
2. Press the pod into the cup holder until the collar sits on the step, then turn it toward the driver.
