Description

Fits Subaru Impreza GC/GF (GC8, 1998–2001) and Forester SF (1998–2002): two brackets for the heater control unit that hold it on the left and right of the centre console. According to the parts catalogue they are no longer available; broken or bent brackets let the control unit wobble or drop back.

  • Left and right pair, mirrored. Sides are named by shape: base plate outboard on the console, tabs inboard, the tab with two holes at the top.
  • 2 mm thick instead of 1 mm sheet metal.
  • The original screws are reused.
  • Printed in PETG or ASA, not resin: a resin copy broke after a year.

Fit: dimensions taken from a freely published copy, our part is not yet tested in a car.

Open up the holes with a 5.5 mm drill if needed.

Material and temperature

Shaded location: PETG is sufficient, ASA is the more robust choice. PLA is unsuitable in a car – it starts to soften at about 55–60 °C.

Print orientation: On edge, outer edge of the base plate on the bed; a brim is recommended. The inside of the bend overhangs briefly (up to 8 mm); it is a hidden face.

Safety notice

The part only holds the heater control unit and has no safety function. Tighten the screws hand-tight only. Install at your own risk. Never mount in an airbag deployment zone, never cover controls, never restrict the view. Follow the material and temperature advice. Add-ons may affect the type approval of the vehicle (§ 19 StVZO in Germany); keep edges in the head and knee area rounded (UN Regulation No. 21).

Printing

  1. Print both parts in PETG or ASA, 0.2 mm layers, 100 % infill, no supports, with a brim. No PLA, no resin.

Installation

  1. Remove the console trim, unscrew the old brackets.
  2. Screw the new brackets to the console and the control unit with the original screws, hand-tight only.

FAQ

Which material should I use for this trim part / clip?

Recommended: PETG (alternatively ASA). Shaded location: PETG is sufficient, ASA is the more robust choice. PLA is unsuitable in a car – it starts to soften at about 55–60 °C.

Do I receive a printed part?

Which bracket is the left one?

Seen from the front, the left bracket has its base plate on the outer left and the tabs point right toward the control unit; the tab with two holes is at the top.

Why not resin?

A resin copy broke after a year according to its author; PETG and ASA are tougher.
