Opel / Vauxhall Astra G (1998–2004): 1–3 × 52 mm gauge panel in place of the tray below the heater controls – no drilling

Description

For the Opel / Vauxhall Astra G (1998–2004) – saloon, estate, coupé, convertible, including OPC and Turbo: the panel replaces the storage tray below the heater controls and holds one, two or three 52 mm gauges, e.g. boost, oil temperature and oil pressure.

• A hollow plug frame with crush ribs clamps in the tray slot. Nothing is drilled, the original tray can go back at any time.
• The panel has the size of the original tray front (189 × 60 mm) and covers no heater buttons or switches.
• The gauges sit flush in the panel, held by crush ribs without screws.
• The cables run through the frame into the slot and behind the console.
• Prints face-down on the bed: smooth visible side, no supports.

The slot is only about 50 mm tall, so the gauges sit in a 55 mm deep block in front of the console. Fit: dimensions taken from a freely published tray insert, our part is not yet tested in a car.

File the crush ribs if needed; too loose: felt tape on the frame. Bore +0.4 mm, check with the test ring.

Material and temperature

Shaded location: PETG is sufficient, ASA is the more robust choice. PLA is unsuitable in a car – it starts to soften at about 55–60 °C.

Print orientation: Face (visible side) down on the bed, frame pointing up.

Safety notice

The panel sits in the centre console clear of the airbag zones and stands about 5.5 cm into the cabin. It must not obstruct the gear lever or controls – check in every gear after fitting. Check it is secure before driving. Install at your own risk. Never mount in an airbag deployment zone, never cover controls, never restrict the view. Follow the material and temperature advice. Add-ons may affect the type approval of the vehicle (§ 19 StVZO in Germany); keep edges in the head and knee area rounded (UN Regulation No. 21).

Slot size 179 × 50 × 141 mm taken from Printables 1369803 (dimensions read only), our part not yet tested in a car. Reference from a left-hand-drive car; right-hand drive not checked. The tray sits in the centre console above the gear lever trim, clear of airbag and knee zones.

Printing

1. Print the tolerance test ring first and test-fit a gauge.
2. Print in PETG, ASA or ABS, 0.2 mm layers, 4 walls, 20 % infill, no supports. No PLA.

Installation

1. Pull out the storage tray (release the clips at the top).
2. Feed the cables through the frame into the slot, press the gauges in from the front.
3. Push the panel straight into the slot until it sits flush.
